The IFF Panama Foundation is ready to start the 4th edition of the Su Mirada Fund, in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (BID).
It's a perfect time to celebrate and support the talented filmmakers of Central America and the Caribbean!
What are the categories?
The projects currently under development and after production with a prize of $15.000 at play are accepted, thanks to the BID. The selected works will be evaluated by an international jury of three leading film-related women, who will decide how to distribute the prize among the winning categories, considering the needs of each project.
The prints are open until 9 February 2025, at 3: 59 p.m. from Panama (EST). The contest aims to promote feature films of fiction, documentary, hybrid, experimental or animation that address issues of gender, racism, discrimination, human rights and the environment from an authoritative and social perspective..
My dear Tropic
At his third edition of his watch, which coincided with the twelfth edition of his festival, the film by Ana Endara "Dear Tropic," won the Fondo Cine 2021 National Competition in the category of Ficción and Animation Longfilm. That work had its premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and has been outstanding at several international festivals, winning the Public Award and Best Interpretation Award for the Paulina García and Jenny Navarrete Actors at the Biarrritz Latin American Film Festival.
That shows that Panamanian cinema continues to grow and is an important asset in the economic recovery of the country, where the National Government, through the National Cinema and Audiovisual Section of the Ministry of Culture, devotes more than $2 million annually to the National Cinema Competition.
