"FICTEQ invites MethoFest to a Tribute to Panama"

The International Tequila Film Festival (FICTEQ) is pleased to announce its collaboration with the International Chiriquí Cortometry Festival, also known as MethoFest, to honor Panama's culture during 2023-2024.

The event was held in the regions of Chiriquí and Jalisco. From 19 to 22 April 2023, the city of Tequila was the stage where national and international artists and filmmakers met to celebrate the cinema and honor Panama as a dedicated country.

During these days, attendees were able to enjoy high-quality cinema and best cuisine in Mexico as well as tequila tasting. The event was attended by renowned filmmakers, artists and personalities from the cultural and corporate world.

The short film "Mi manchi," directed by the young Ngäbe Buglé, Danalys Rodriguez, opened the festival and received an ovation from the public. Also, short films were presented by Panamanian children and youth who participated in the workshop "Movil Cine," sponsored by DICINE, the Ministry of Culture of Panama and Infopacio AIP.

These short films have been presented at schools and schools in the Tequila region and have been widely accepted by the public. Móvil Cine will have replicas in the Tequila region.

Felix D'el Cid, director of the MethoFest, expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration: "We are delighted to join FICTEQ to honor the culture of Panama and to create a space for cultural exchange and potential co-production between both countries. That event is an opportunity to make alliances and to celebrate the diversity and cultural wealth of our Latin American region." MethoFest's main goal is to create a platform for cinema and social dialogue in Western Panama, where there is a great need for platforms for the arts.
