Honduras joins Ibermedia, so... we're all here.

Honduras has announced its incorporation into the Ibermedia Programme through its highest cinematographic authority, the General Cinematography Direction and its director, Raúl Agüero Duron.

Following this decision, the Honduran film and audiovisual community will be able to propose projects applying for Ibermedia's assistance in co-production and development and for training programs for industry professionals.

The incorporation of Honduras was confirmed yesterday, Wednesday, March 10, in a letter with the stamp of the Government of the Republic of Honduras referred to our Technical and Executive Secretary Elena Vilardell.

"The General Cinematography Management of Honduras has decided to join the Ibermedia Programme / Initiative," read in the official document that also announces "the designation of Raúl Agüero Duron as the Country's Representative, who takes a commitment to participate in the intergovernmental councils that the Programme holds."

"I hope you are as happy as I have, as with Honduras we are ALL," Elena Vilardell remarked as soon as she knew that the Central American country had decided to step up and come into that great family of solidarity with Ibero-American cinema and audiovisual.

That important news was preceded by another that, institutional, was also aimed at strengthening film and audiovisual production in the country: the entry into force of the Act on Cinematography of Honduras, adopted in December 2021.

Honduras is the third country in Central America and the Caribbean to approve its film law after Panama, which did so in 2007, and Nicaragua, in 2010.
