The restrictive circumstances that have been imposed by the pandemic have allowed for an impressive empowerment of online culture and entertainment, so that the artistic, cultural and leisure expressions that have been transmitted in a virtual manner have provided us with great psychological relief, distraction and mental calmness at these difficult and uncertain moments that we are living with.

Dance, theater, concerts, literature, forums, workshops, all imaginable manifestations, but especially cinema, have offered their best expressions for our well-being.

In this context, UNIVERSITARIAT, consistent with its historic role as the only international and alternative cinema room that exists in Panama, and contributing with its activities to the complete education of the student at the University of Panama and giving other cinema options to cinephiles, filmmakers and film lovers in general, has also entered into the dynamic of reinvention to stay valid and has created SALA VIRTUAL CINE

SALA VIRTUAL CINE U will be a space that will have, as often as possible, samples, cycles and retrospective films from all over the world and will be inaugurated as part of the activities of the International Research and Cultural event, and will be broadcast through the GECU's website, with a tab that will give free access to these film contents.

Following the thematic framework in which this fourth edition of the School, which is the celebration of the Bicentennial of the independence of our Spanish country, will be presented with six short and five feature films by Panamanian and Latin American directors that play issues ranging from customs and traditions of our native peoples, their stories and experiences of yesterday and today, to their relationship with the colonizer and their surroundings.
