Panama at international cinema:

From November 14 to December 2, the CIMAS Foundation, the Ministry of Culture of Panama, the Ibermemoria Sonora and Audiovisual program of Mexico, the Experimental University Cinema Group of the University of Panama and the Universidad especializado de las Américas (UDELas) will be presenting the sample "Panama in international cinema: The foreign look," with free entrance to the University Cinema and to the Virtual Cinema Variety of UDELAS.
The sample consists of 28 titles and is the last commemorative activity of the Bicentennial of the Republic. Curated by the CIMAS Foundation, the aim is to spread foreign films that have addressed issues related to Panama, that show the evolution of the concepts of nationality and identity from an alien point of view and that can reveal traits of the Panamanian cultural being.
Among the most interesting films that have been subtitled are "The Mute Commandment," with Béla Lugosi, who came to film to Panama, before becoming famous in the role of Dracula, "the musical" Panama Hattie, "the drama about the fight against the yellow fever" White Legion, "as well as" The Singüenzo "(1947)," Flamas against the wind "(1956)," Naked in the sand "(1969) and" The satire of Panama "(1992)."
